Description

Original 1st printing 5&1/2 x 8&5/8" blank-reverse concert/event handbill for the 1st Annual Fort Lauderdale Easter-Rock Festival, held at Lockhart Park in Fort Lauderdale, FL from 3/30-4/1/1969.

Handbill lists appearances by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat, MC5, Grass Roots, Steve Miller (Blues Band), Chuck Berry, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Three Dog Night, Morning Glory, Frut of the Loom, Buffalo Springfield (Dewey Martin lineup), Sweetwater and Tiny Tim (*not known exactly who appeared, but the event apparently did go on).

Design by Linda Segul (image recycled from several previous festival/event posters), medium flat vellum stock handbill is in excellent (B+) condition; aside from a nearly-invisible soft diagonal bend going from the top center margin to the right center margin and a few stray soft handling dings here and there, it is a mostly-clean example of this semi-obscure early-'69 multi-act festival artifact from a mostly-forgotten Florida event.

Not a lot of info out there regarding this event, but one interesting tidbit I did find out was that the MC5 were barred from entering the state due to the publication of a somewhat questionable photo in the "Berkeley Barb", so they obviously did not appear.
