Description

Original 1st printing ("blocked dates" version) 14 x 22&1/4" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Charlie Musselwhite and Petrus at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 5/30-6/1/1968.

*a number of existing examples that were distributed and hung up at the time of the shows have the days of the week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) at the top of the poster blacked out with magic marker.

Art by (and SIGNED in gold ink by) Alton Kelley, image ("Memorial") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 179 (plate 2.160).

Medium-thin flat index stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there are a series of thin bends and semi-soft crescent-shaped handling creases scattered along the top/bottom margins, along with a tiny nip tear in the lower left margin, a few well-hidden handling/stress creases lurking within the image area, a couple of tiny corner-tip pressure creases and a set of light tape pulls on the reverse side, otherwise fine.

GREAT-looking ARTIST-SIGNED example of this always in-demand Grateful Dead poster from the Carousel.
