Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" benefit* concert/event flyer for "A Gigantic All-Nite Jazz-Rock Dance Concert" held at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 9/11/1966. (*for the Both/And jazz club in San Francisco)

Participants listed include: Gary Goodrow (MC), Jon Hendricks Trio, Elvin Jones, the Joe Henderson Quartet, Big Mama Thornton, Denny Zeitlin Trio, Jefferson Airplane, Great Society (their final performance before Grace Slick left) and the Wildflower. Not listed (but apparently did appear): the Grateful Dead.

Artist unknown/not credited, image is featured on page 151 of the Art of Rock book (plate 2.74).

Thin flat stock flyer is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; the piece was attached to a scrapbook page at one point, leaving behind a series of hairline-thin horizontal lines on the reverse side and scattered around the outer margin area- beyond that, there are tack/pin holes in all four corners and in the top center margin, along with a bit of mild handling wear/light creasing, a soft corner-tip bend or two and a hint of paper toning, otherwise it is a very nice-looking gently-worn example of this VERY early Fillmore benefit flyer.
