Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" General Artists Corporation (GAC) 1-page typed contract and 3-page mimeographed contract rider for an appearance by Vanilla Fudge at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, CA on 1/20/1968. (*contracts drafted/signed in December 1967)

Contract has been HAND-SIGNED in blue pen by both the promoter (Jim Salzer) and band leader/representative (guitarist Vincent Martel).

Thin flat stock contract is in good (B) condition; as it is a piece of used office material, there is a small wedge tear and a couple of tiny staple holes in the upper left corner (staple removal), along with a pair of semi-flattened horizontal folds (item was folded into 1/3rds and mailed), a couple of small edge bends/soft creases, hand-corrected annotations and a few other minor issues, but it has survived remarkably well for a 55-plus piece of office ephemera.

The rider is in very nice shape, with just a couple of horizontal folds, light handling and a tiny rust stain from an old paper clip on the reverse side of the third page, otherwise fine.

Very cool piece of unusual Southern California concert ephemera, including details about set length (two 45-minute sets), the band's fee ($1250) and more. Check out other listings for additional Jim Salzer contracts for the Electric Flag and Peanut Butter Conspiracy.
