Original 1st printing 5&1/2 x 8&1/2" concert handbill for the Grateful Dead appearing with Moby Grape, Love (featuring Arthur Lee), Loading Zone and Blue Crumb Truck Factory at Winterland in San Francisco, CA on 3/3/1967* (after a few false starts, this was actually the very first GD appearance at Winterland).
Art by (Donna) Herrick, (full-color poster) image ("The First Annual Love Circus") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 188 (plate 2.194)- this is the monochrome handbill.
Thin textured semi-gloss stock handbill is in decent/used (B-) condition; there is a 2" long horizontal tape pull and a 1&1/2" tape residue mark in the top center margin, another 1" tape pull in the bottom center margin, a couple of tiny pin-prick surface spots and hairline-thin stress bends hiding within the image area, a hint of handling wear, a couple of tiny corner-tip creases and the bottom margin has been hand-trimmed by approximately 1/8".
Nifty little 1967 concert handbill from the Dead's Winterland debut. Charles Perry details the Dead's participation at the show, the involvement of the SF Diggers and the promoters ("Love Conspiracy Commune") in his book "Haight-Ashbury- A History" (pagres 144-145, 2005 softcover edition)
