Description

Collection of three (3) 2nd printing concert flyers for 1968 and 1970 Grateful Dead concerts;

 9&3/8 x 16&7/8" oversized schedule-style concert flyer/mini poster for Pinnacle Productions' May, 1968 series of concerts held at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles, CA. Also lists: Big Brother and the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), with Albert King and Pacific, Gas & Electric (5/3-4), the Grateful Dead and the Steve Miller Band and Taj Mahal (5/17-18), the Velvet Underground, the Chambers Brothers, Salvation and Dr. John (5/24-25) and the Yardbirds, B.B. King and the Sons of Champlin (5/31-6/1); Art by John Van Hamersveld, image featured in the Art of Rock on page 255 (no plate number). Medium-thick flat index flyer is in good (B) condition; there's a dime-sized discoloration in the top center margin, along with a series of stray bends/creases along the left/right margins and extensive staining on the reverse, otherwise OK.

10&1/2" x 14&1/8" small concert poster/oversized flyer for the Grateful Dead appearing with Cleveland Wrecking Company on 10/18/1968 and with Big Mama Thornton (and C.W.Co.) on 10/19/1968, both shows held at the Bank in Torrance, CA. (also listed is a 10/20/1968 Free Clinic Benefit with "Super Guest Bands"). Art by Robert A. Wilson with photos by Bruce Wilson (Jerry Garcia) and Barry McClintock (Mickey Hart), image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 398 (plate 4.202). Medium to medium-thick flat index stock poster is in decent/used (B-) condition; all four corners have tack holes/wear, there is a moderate amount of surface wear, creasing, toning, tape pulls on the reverse and the lettering has been hand-colored (with assorted colored markers)... definitely a well worn example, but it still looks kinda cool.

8&1/2 x 12&1/2" thin-paper flyer for the Grateful Dead and Commander Cody (& HIs Lost PLanet Airmen) at the Family Dog on the Great Highway from 2/27-3/1/1970. Art by Randy Tuten, image is FD 700228 in the Eric King guide. Medium-thin flat stock flyer is in excellent (B+) condition with just a bit of edge creasing, a small tear in the upper left margin and a couple of tiny bends here and there, otherwise fine.

Neat little set of Grateful Dead concert artifacts, perfect for either a casual collector or an obsessive Deadhead.
