Description

Original 1st printing 14&3/8 x 20&5/8" (right/bottom margins approximately 1/4" longer than the regular versions) concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Lee Michaels, Mance Lipscomb and Linn County at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 10/11-13/1968.

Design by Wes Wilson with a photo by Robert Knight, image is # 141 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

Medium flat index stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there is a VERY soft diagonal bend in the right center margin (about 7" up from the lower right corner) along with a couple of tiny crinkle creases/edge nips along the upper left margin, a couple of strips of discoloration/toning along the bottom/right margins, a couple of soft corner-tip bends, a stray handling/stress bend or two here and there, a few ultra-soft pin-prick age spots scattered around the image area and on the reverse side and a razor-thin black line (ink from the left side of the FD 142 poster) along the right margin, otherwise OK.

While this is usually one of the more commonly-found Family Dog posters, this is the first example I have come across with wide margins- it's not mentioned in the Eric King guide, perhaps it is an anomaly?
