Description

Original 1st printing 16 x 26&1/2" concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) appearing with Albert King and Pacific Gas & Electric at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles, CA from 5/2-4/1968.

Art by Rick Griffin and Victor Moscoso, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 277 (plate 3.69) and is part of the Pinnacle/Shrine series.

Medium-thick glossy-coated index stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; there is a 1" tear in the right center margin (sealed on the reverse with clear tape), along with a large semi-pronounced horizontal crease traversing the bottom edge of the image area, a series of thin bends/light creases scattered throughout the image/outer margin area, a fossilized tape mark and a small tear in the lower left margin and a number of tape pulls on the reverse side, otherwise OK.

I've seen better and I've seen worse, this is somewhere in the middle... used, but still presentable with strong colors, no stains or tack/staple holes... overall, it's a pretty nice-looking semi-used original 1968 concert poster from Southern California by two of the most collected (and prolific) artists of the era.
