Description

Original 1st printing 6 x 9" marquee/schedule handbill (with postcard backing) for a series of Spring/Summer 1969 shows held the Fillmore East in New York City.

Shows listed include: the Incredible String Band (5/11), the Who with Sweetwater and It's A Beautiful Day (5/16-17; the infamous fire show), Sly & the Family Stone with Clarence Carter and Rotary Connection (5/23-24), Led Zeppelin with Woody Herman and His Orchestra and Delaney & Bonnie and Friend (5/30-31), Chuck Berry and Albert King (6/6-7), Booker T. & the MG's with the Youngbloods and Chicago (6/13-14), Grateful Dead and Buddy Miles Express (6/20-21), John Mayall with Preservation Hall Jazz Band (7/11-12), Creedence Clearwater Revival with Raven (7/18-19), Iron Butterfly (7/25-26), Canned Heat with Little Richard (8/1-2) and Jefferson Airplane (8/8-9), all shows backed by the incredible Joshua Light Show.

Design by Jerry Pompili/Willson-Frissora, image is an un-numbered part of the Bill Graham/Fillmore East series.

Medium-thin flat vellum stock card is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; there is a fairly pronounced large 2-2&1/2" tear in the left margin, along with a smaller tear in the right margin, edge creasing, a large diagonal bend traversing the upper part of the image area, handling/surface wear, pen scratch on the reverse, etc... definitely a well-worn artifact.

Conditional issues aside, the lineup on this item is pretty much without comparison... an INCREDIBLE time to catch some of these acts!
