Description

Original 1st printing 17&7/8 x 24&1/4" silkscreen concert poster for a Hells Angels-sponsored show featuring the Grateful Dead and Bo Diddley appearing together at the Academy of Music in New York City on 3/25/1972.

Artist unknown (likely a local member of the club), the image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 404 (plate 4.222).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock silkscreen poster (printed with extra-bright fluorescent/day-glo ink) is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are a series of hairline-thin horizontal bends scattered along the left/right margins, along with a bit of subtle moisture warp along the left center/lower left margins, a small diagonal bend in the lower left corner, a few ULTRA-tiny edge dings/pressure creases scattered around the outer margin area and a couple of light smudges/scuffs on the reverse, otherwise it is an absolutely EYE-SEARING example of this VERY hard-to-find HAMC NYC Grateful Dead poster from 1972.

A LEGENDARY show in Grateful Dead history (also Donna Jean Godchaux' first show as an official member and the last time they appeared in Manhattan until 1976), stream the 2nd set of the show (taped by the one and only Jerry Moore) HERE:
