Description

Original 1st printing 6 x 10" concert handbill for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and the P.H. Phactor Jug Band at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR from 2/2-3/1968.

Art by George Hunter, image (*poster with different typeface in the venue area) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 287 (plate 3.103).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock handbill is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; there are staple holes in all four corners, along with a small triangular wedge tear/pull on the "ic" of "Notice", a jagged staple hole wedge pull going through "Burnside", a couple of decent-sized diagonal bends in the upper left/right corners, a slight vertical roll wave to the paper, a few tiny pin-prick surface indentations/handling/stress creases here and there, a couple of tiny corner-tip splits and a stray edge ding or two... this particular example was taken down from public display by the consignor at the time of the shows, so it was definitely "in the wild" in early 1968.

Very cool-looking (if a bit used) original Grateful Dead/QMS "Notice!" concert handbill from the legendary winter 1968 tour of the Pacific Northwest. Stream a portion of the 2/2 show HERE:
