Description

Original 1st printing 6&1/2 x 9&5/8" double-sided concert/event handbill for the 1966 Trips Festival, a three-day concert/event/"happening", held at Longshoreman's Hall in San Francisco, CA from 1/21-23/1966. Participants included: Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters (conducting an Acid Test, featuring the Grateful Dead), Big Brother & the Holding Company (pre-Janis), the Loading Zone and many more.

Design by Wes Wilson, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 116 (plate 2.42).

Thin flat stock handbill is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there is a 3/4" tear in the upper left margin, along with a few light handling dings here and there, a stray surface scuff or two, a couple of VERY light soft bends and a trace of corner-tip wear, otherwise fine. This is one of the only unfolded examples I have seen in a long time (a lot of these were folded for mailing)... a VERY sharp-looking example overall.

ICONIC early-'66 psychedelic event handbill, this is the first example I have ever offered up. Check out an INCREDIBLE few minutes of footage from the event HERE:
