Description

Pair of original 1st printing appx. 4&1/4 x 7&1/8" postcard-reverse concert handbills for the Jimi Hendrix Experience appearing with the Soft Machine, MC5 and the Rationals at the Masonic Temple Auditorium in Detroit, MI on 2/23/1968 and with Soft Machine and the Paupers at the C.N.E. Coliseum Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 2/24/1968.

Art by Gary Grimshaw (photo by Karl Ferris on the Toronto card), images are numbers 68 (Detroit) and 70 (Toronto) in the Russ Gibb Presents/Grande series (both items are designated OPC-B in the Eric King guide).

Medium-thin flat vellum stock postcards are both in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; the Toronto card is definitely the more worn of the two cards- as the photo shows, there is a fairly decent amount of surface wear, tack holes, handling/creasing, tape stains/pulls on the reverse, etc... definitely a well-handled example. The Detroit card is in slightly better shape- it has a couple of staple holes in the top/bottom margin, handling/edge wear, tape pulls on the back, etc., but the image area is fairly clean.

While this pair won't win any condition awards, they are definitely authentic, real-deal Hendrix concert advertisements and are priced accordingly for the casual fan/novice collector.
