Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 10&7/8" 48-page concert program for the Newport Pop Festival, held at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA from 8/3-4/1968.

Program lists appearances by Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, the Byrds, Steppenwolf, Tiny Tim, Sonny & Cher, Things to Come, Illinois Speed Press, James Cotton Blues Band, Counrty Joe & the Fish, Blue Cheer, Electric Flag, Iron Butterfly, Eric Burdon & the Animals, Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Chambers Brothers.

Design by Geller & Butler Advertising, medium glossy-coated index stock cover/flat vellum interior program is in very good (B+) condition; the front cover has a small diagonal slice out of the bottom left corner tip, along with a thin diagonal bend traversing the length of the cover (going from the top center margin to the lower right corner), a tiny nip out of the bottom right corner tip of the front page, a slight amount of spine cracking, a couple of small diagonal bends on the first few pages and a couple of soft rub marks on the front/back cover, otherwise fine- no missing/torn pages, embellishments, etc.

ULTRA-COOL mid-1968 concert artifact from an absolutely jam-packed lineup, complete with a few "this could only happen in the '60's" acts (Sonny & Cher and Tiny Tim, to be precise). Check out INCREDIBLE color footage of the Dead and the Airplane performing at the event HERE:
