Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 20" concert poster for Quicksilver Messenger Service appearing with Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin -her first headlining performances with BBHC) at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 6/24-25/1966.

Art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, image ("Zig-Zag Man") is # 14 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

Medium flat vellum stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; the poster was lightly cleaned to remove a bit of toning (*no additional restoration) and there are multiple staple/pin holes in all four corners with a pair of tiny drag tears in the lower left/right corners, plus a few light handling dings/soft bends here and there, slightly worn/rounded corner-tips, a couple of tiny corner bends and a set of light tape pulls on the reverse, otherwise fine.

VERY nice-looking 1st printing example of one of the most iconic images in the Family Dog series.
