Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.

 Art by Alton Kelley with Stanley Mouse, image ("Frankenstein") is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

 Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster has been professionally restored to excellent (B+) condition; the poster was cleaned (light stain/age spot removal, save for a tiny bit of pin-prick spotting remaining on the reverse) and pressed, along with a bit of edge repair along the left/right margin (tiny edge tears sealed) and there remains a bit of subtle moisture wave to the paper, but overall it looks pretty sharp (*I can provide a "before restoration" photo upon request).
 
 According to some sources, this was the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic Dead!
