Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" concert flyer for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.

Art by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, image is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

Thin flat stock flyer is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; there is an approximately 1/2" diagonal wedge out of the top left corner tip, along with a few staple holes scattered around the outer margin area, a set of light pulls in the other three corners (tape removal), a few light handling dings, pin-prick age spots and tiny stress bends scattered around the image area and a whisper of surface dirt, otherwise fine.

Very decent-looking used example of this early Grateful Dead flyer from the Avalon. Also, this was reportedly the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic!
