Description

Original 1st printing 21&3/4 x 26&1/4" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with the Sons of Champlin and Initial Shock at the Avalon Ballroom In San Francisco, CA from 1/24-26/1969.

Art by Rick Griffin, image ("Aoxoamoxoa") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 109 (plate 2.24) and is part of the Soundproof Presents series.

Medium glossy-coated index stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; there is a fair amount of fading to the yellow pass of ink (affecting both the yellow and green half-tones) with a thin strip of matte toning/discoloration going around the outer border area (poster was framed/matted for many years and exposed to sunlight), along with a few light handling dings/pin-prick surface scuffs hiding within the image area, a small edge tear and semi-pronounced diagonal bend in the upper right corner, a pair of nearly-invisible horizontal roll/stress creases traversing the image area and a bit of light mounting tape residue on the reverse top margin, otherwise fine.

An overall very presentable 1st printing Soundproof Aoxomoxoa poster... not perfect, but not completely hammered, either. Check out the 1/26 show (a great-sounding Charlie Miller transfer) HERE
