Description

Original 1st printing 11&1/2 x 26" concert for "A Pleasure Dome", featuring the Grateful Dead appearing with the Hindustani Jazz Sextet (featuring Hari-Har-Rao and Don Ellis) and Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin- only about a month after she joined the band) at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 7/14/1966.

Art by McCallum, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 185 (plate 2.182).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are a few randomly-placed staple holes scattered around the outer margins and one or two hiding within the image area, along with a couple of diagonal creases/bends in the upper left corner, a bit of light creasing along the top edge, a couple of soft pin-prick surface smudges hiding within the image area, a stray handling ding/stress crease or two, a trace of edge wear and the reverse side has a rather elaborate period-written stream-of-consciousness poem (by "Vikki", in black pen), but overall this example looks pretty nice (I've only seen a couple other examples, it's a fairly uncommon one).

VERY EARLY 1966 G.D./Big Brother Fillmore poster from one of only a few non-Bill Graham sponsored events held at the Fillmore (show was put on by Calliope Company).
