Description

Original 8&1/8 x 10&7/8" concert flyer for "The Clark Kerr Memorial Ball (8 Hour Protest)" held at Governor's Hall in Sacramento, CA on 2/11/1967.  Show was headlined by Country Joe & the Fish ("direct from San Francisco's Fillmore"), along with Andrew "Stables" (Staples), Oxford Circle, the Working Class, the Silver Bike, Free Love and Frankie & Bonnie.

Designer unknown/not credited, thin flat stock flyer is in decent (B/B-) condition; there is a moderate amount of wear in the corner tips, including a fairly worn/tattered top right corner with a small chunk of missing paper, a bit of heavy creasing/wear in the upper left corner/top left margin, a pair of diagonal corner-tip bends, a series of tiny nips along the lower right margin, a series of light bends/handling dings and a few thin surface indentations hiding within the (very dense) image area and other assorted minor issues...  the specifics of the damage indicate that it was likely taken down from public display at the time of the show.

Conditional issues aside, this flyer is without a doubt one of the most overtly psychedelic/trippy concert artifacts I have EVER seen- everything from the little phrases and embellishments embedded within the design ("weird visions", etc.) to the decidedly non-traditional layout are EXTREMELY geared towards the psychedelic experience.
