Description

Original 1st printing 11 x 17" benefit (*see below for additional info, benefit was officially for 3HO North, a Kundalini Yoga organization) concert poster for the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia and Mickey Hart performing (*with Phil Lesh and Ned Lagin- not listed) in an improvisational format, along with the Mantric Sun Band and the Sat Nam Singers at the Palace of Fine Arts Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 11/28/1973.

 Photo by Bob Seidemann, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 338 (plate 4.22).

  Medium-thin flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are staple/pin holes in all four corners, on Jerry's arm and in the top center of the image area between Jerry and Mickey's heads, with a couple of tiny wedge pull tears and a nip of missing paper out of the top left corner-tip, along with a slight horizontal drip stain traversing Mickey's chest, a bit of light surface dirt, a light amount of handling wear and a couple of tiny stress bends hiding within the image area, otherwise fine.

 Definitely one of the harder-to-locate early '70's GD-related concert artifacts, the story behind this one is told on page 116 of Jerilyn Brandelius' 1990 "Grateful Dead Family Album";

*"Around this time a couple of gigs occurred at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. One was a Seastones show with Phil Lesh and Ned Lagin's electronic music. Another was a benefit for San San Tokh's ashram with Jerry and Mickey. They hadn't seen each other in about a year. Mickey decided to dress up all in white and completely shave off his beard. Garcia, unbeknownst to Mickey, had gotten up, decided to dress all in black and shave his face. They met at the photo session and were totally blown away" -Jerilyn"
