Original 1st printing 17&3/8 x 22&3/8" event/concert poster for the 7/1/1970 stop of the Transcontinental Pop Festival, held at Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Poster (the second stop on the legendary "Festival Express" train tour across Canada) lists appearances by the the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, the Band, Buddy Guy, Delaney & Bonnie, Mashmakan, Charlebois, James & the Good Brothers, Eric Andersen, Mountain, Ian & Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird, Tom Rush and Melanie.
Design by Ken Walker and John Lown, image (identical image from the Toronto stop) is featured in the art of Rock on page 376 (plate 4.132).
Thin flat stock Poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; a pair of flattened horizontal/vertical folds (item was folded into 1/4ths and subsequently flattened) with a bit of wear/slight fraying along the creases and a 1&1/2" split in the top center margin, plus a few stray handling dings and a tiny edge nick or two, otherwise it is an absolutely superb-looking example of the Winnipeg version of the Festival Express poster.
Posters from the Toronto and Calgary stops turn up with some regularity, the Winnipeg is MUCH harder to find- this is only the second example I have ever seen (and the other one was in much worse shape than this one).
Here's the Dead performing "Easy Wind" (featuring Ron "Pigpen" McKernan) from this show;
