Original 1st printing 17 x 22&3/4" concert flyer for Chicago blues legend Muddy Waters appearing with Winter (featuring Johnny Winter) at the Vulcan Gas Company in Austin, TX on 8/2-3/1968.
Art by the one and only JFKLN (Jim Franklin), image (full color handbill) is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 293 (plate 3.121) and is an un-numbered part of the VG/Vulcan Gas Company series (VGC 1968-08-02/03). This is the ULTRA-SCARCE THIN NEWSPRNT POSTER VERSION.
Thin flat newsprint stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; a touch of toning, a semi-flattened horizontal machine fold (as issued), a 1/2" crescent-shaped chunk out of the right center margin, a few stray edge spots around the outer edges, a hint of creasing in the left center margin and a soft handling ding or two, otherwise fine.
VERY, VERY scarce (and FRAGILE) Vulcan Gas poster from a brief period in the club's history when they adopted newsprint as a potential advertising medium. The format was quickly abandoned (it only was used for this poster and for the "Grackle Debacle" poster) and as a result, this piece has become a VERY difficult find, especially in nice shape. Most of them didn't survive.
We also have the full-color flyer from this show listed separately.
