Original 1st/only printing 14&1/8 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 8/19-20/1966. Art by Stanley Mouse (who also SIGNED the poster in pencil in the lower left corner-see close-up) and Alton Kelley, image is #22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series. Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in fantastic near mint (A-) condition; only the slightest trace of edge/corner wear and a tiny spot at the top center keep this one from being "Dead mint" (forgive the silly pun). A GRAND example of the notorious "Frankenstein" image! Additionally, this was allegedly the show that Warner Brothers' head honcho Joe Smith got, shall we say- "exposed" to the band for the 1st time. A recording contract was soon firmly in place, and one of the most complex band/record company relationships in WB history had been forged. Historic!
