Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 22" concert poster for the Jimi Hendrix Experience appearing (with Sly & the Family Stone (*not listed) at Bill Graham's Fillmore East in New York City on 5/10/1968.
Art by David Edward Byrd, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 157 (plate 2.90) and is the 7th image in the BG/FE series.
Medium-thick flat index stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are tack/staple holes in each corner with a couple of tiny rust stains around the edges, a dime-sized surface stain in the lower left corner of the image area (just beneath "Fantasy"), along with a few small dark spots along the lower left margin, a VERY subtle moisture discoloration in the lower right corner, a few tiny corner/edge bends, light handling wear, a couple of soft pin-prick stains and thin stress creases hiding within the image area, a touch of fading, a thin horizontal stress bend traversing the upper part of the image area and a fairly decent-sized moisture stain on the reverse (it doesn't bleed through except for the aforementioned lower right corner, otherwise fine.
A fine-looking gently-used example of the ORIGINAL 1st-printing Hendrix poster from the legendary May '68 Fillmore East shows. Additionally, this particular example was gifted by BILL GRAHAM HIMSELF to a long-time (30 year) employee of BGP back in 1973... absolutely IMPECCABLE provenance on this piece.
